    According to this challenge, Xiong Yujie, professor and doctoral director of China University of science and technology, designed a kind of tungsten oxide nanostructure with precisely controlled oxygen vacancy defects.According to reports, usually metal oxides cannot activate oxygen molecules through chemical adsorption.The construction of oxygen vacancy defect overcomes this defect and promotes the efficient transfer of photogenerated electrons from oxide catalysts to oxygen molecules.In addition, the appearance of defects greatly broadens the absorption range of photocatalyst, making it capture solar energy in the wide spectrum range of visible and near-infrared light.Thus, the effective capture of solar energy and energy transfer are realized, and the bottleneck problem of oxide catalyst in photocatalytic organic synthesis is solved.
